The Charleston Branch was founded on January 3, 1935 and has been continuously active in the community that includes Berkeley, Dorchester, and Charleston Counties. Through the years AAUW Charleston has supported the mission of AAUW believing that it is important for educated women to grow intellectually and contribute to their community.

Throughout the year, AAUW Charleston has meetings with its members and guests on topics of interest related to current state and national legislation that impact on education, women, and their families. Generally, we hold 6-7 meetings per year that include social events as well as programs. Many of our meetings are held collaboratively with organizations that share our interests. When it is appropriate, we partner with other organizations and encourage our members to take action.
