ASSIST Grant

AAUW Supports STEM Instruction and STEM Teachers

(ASSIST) – 2024

Sponsored by the Charleston Branch of the

American Association of University Women (AAUW)

(charleston-sc.aauw.net)

The Charleston Branch of AAUW will be awarding 2 ASSIST grants to K-8 STEM or STEAM (Science, Technology, Education, Art, and Math) teachers in the Charleston County School District.  Both grants for $500 are intended to support a STEM or STEAM teacher.

The applications are due by August 1, 2024 and will be awarded in September.

The STEM fields are rapidly becoming the most in-demand and lucrative in the world.  Despite this demand, by middle school many girls are ambivalent towards these fields and by the end of high school fewer girls than boys plan to pursue STEM studies in college.  The ASSIST grants intend to show how much the Charleston Branch of AAUW values and respects the work STEM and STEAM teachers do to open the doors for women and girls.  See our page on this website for past grant winners and the excellent projects they’ve provided for our community.

ASSIST Grant Application Requirements:

Please provide the following information:  how the grant will be used, name, address, phone number, email address, number of teacher years completed, current teaching assignment including the name of the school, subject(s), grade level, and principal.

In 100 – 200 words please describe how you will use this grant.

Please send the completed application information to:  Chas.aauw@gmail.com by August 1, 2024.  If you have questions, please email them to us.  You will be notified in September if you are the grant winner.
